My CTR is going in for its MOT on Wednesday, but due to my trying to find a stubborn leak, the rear bench is half missing - one part of the upright section is in position, but the seat and the main upright bit are both out of the car. Both seatbelts are still in position.

Also, some of the interior panelling is out of the car for the same reason.

Will this matter for the MOT?

Rear seatbelts are tested. And according to direct.gov, front seats must be secure, rear seats must be secure-able in the upright position. I think you will get away with that being classed as no rear seats present.

Maybe a fail if the upright parts won't sit in their catches.

I heard my MOT tester say to someone who's car had just failed for non-working rear seat belts to take the back seats out and then have a re-test since the faulty belts aren't being used. So you will be fine with no rear seats.

If you want to be sure just unbolt the other bit of the seat and the rear belts as well. If both the seat and the belt are missing then you are fine, if you have a seat and no belt you'll fail and i'm not sure about having a belt but no seat.

Cheers for the replies guys.

I'll probably stick the seat parts back in - less screws to do up/undo in the long run. :p

Quote from the MOT Testing stations handbook at work " If a belt is fitted, but there is no corresponding seat it is NOT considered to be a seatbelt, for the purpose of this inspection. I can't find anything specificly worded that it must have x amount of seats.
