From what I can see on the web, in order to purchase a new tax disc, a valid MOT certificate is required.

Suppose I get an MOT done now, April, that certificate will be 'valid' until April 2007.

I do not need to get a new tax disc until August, so will my MOT certificate valid April 06-07 be alright to buy the new tax disc? From what I can read it appears it would be ok, but if this is the case, my car could go until July 2007 before I have another MOT? Doesn't that defeat the object of an annual test?

Sam

Yup, it could, however, a lack of MOT would be a motoring offence likely to result in your car becoming cubic rather rapidly if caught and you insurance voided. Needs an annual test I am afraid (unless under 3 years old of course)

Yes MOT is valid for upto 13 months (if you get it done early)

Even if its the last day of the valid period you can still tax the car.

No it couldn't. Any car greater than 3 years old must have a valid MOT certificate at all times.

13 months?
Yes, you can get it done early and have it pre-dated to the original MOT's expiery date. I always do it but only two weeks in advance, would have done this time but couldn't due to needing my car for work.
