Morning all,
Got my MOT due in a week or so, ordinarily, not a problem, however as i cant drive for another 3 weeks (medical), then theres a chance that i could get the MOT, get my service, then in 3 weeks when i can drive again, battery will be dead.

So whats the rule on leaving the car be for that 3 weeks and getting the MOT/Service done just before i can drive again? I take it as the car would be going 300m down the road to the garage to get its MOT that its not 'breaking the law'? Or does it have to have a MOT regardless of its state of use?

Thanks in advance all. :)

You can leave the MOT to expire as long as you don't use it in between. When it comes to getting to the MOT station, as long as it's pre booked you'll be fine.

as long as you're driving it to an mot station and not anywhere else after the mot has ran out its fine, and your battery shouldnt run down if everything is working properly, my cars been in the garage for months and started first time..

Ordinarily, i'd agree, but i think theres a fault with my car as the batterys gone flat in less than a week :(

So basically i'll be fine, just pre-book?

Yes. You are allowed to drive a car which doesn't have a valid MOT when you are driving it for a pre-booked MOT test.

Are you allowed to leave a car parked on the public road without an MOT? I know you can't if it doesn't have tax or insurance, but what about an MOT??

Buy a charger.

You can drive to/from a pre-booked MOT with no MOT and no tax (SORN) as long as you have insurance. You need an MOT and insurance to buy tax, you need to be at a testing station to buy an MOT.
