Hi guys. I am too ****** so pardon if I can’t put together a sentence.

Took my car to mot1 failed lights and shock absorbers. Shock absorbers it is all right because when I did the service the my earned about it. The lights well, took to Ford they said the are genuine and they didn’t any problems with it. Because 10 days passed took to mot2 to they did the tests and failed because of the ball joint, etc driver side. Took to the garage next to them by recommendation and they said there is nothing wrong with it. Will speak with the guy now to ask what can be done in this regards, like going back to mot2 and say there isn’t anything wrong with the thing? On the phone he suggested doing another mot, mot3 and it will in principle pass because they don’t see anything wrong with the car but something else might come up.

Any advice? Is there an organisation where I can put a complain? Ask to do an investigation? How come one says the lights are off and the brand said it is fine how come one says the joint is fkdup and the other garage checks says it is fine? What’s happening here? Should I go to the police?

can you post what the first mot actually said ie a picture of the fail.
why didnt you take it back to the first mot station? there must be a reason they failed it maybe they could have enlightened you. as far as i understand the mot is only applicable at the time of test, ie if you drive it away and exceed the time limit for the retest, then they will do another full test and its possible that what passed on mot 1 was either missed or now was a fail on mot 2.
yes mot 3 could fail on something else it down to how different testers interpret the rules. yes i know it shouldnt be but it is what it is.
i remember a customer making a complaint about a independent mot station and the ministry checking his vehicle..they found more faults and ruled that ..'at the time the test was carried out the faults may not have been there ' .

I took my truck in for an MOT and service today... they did the service and somehow there was miscommunication and they didn't do the MOT LOL... on the plus side to make up for it they are going to pick up and drop off the vehicle to do it and knocked £10 off.

MOT testing has an element of subjectivity in it, it's quite usual for different testers to have different opinions of what's a pass or a fail. Some might say there's an element of how busy their workshops are in it, but that might be unfair, I wouldn't like to comment... :)

I've had advisories one year, not touched them and on following years MOT they've never been picked up again. As has been said different testers have different opinions.

How old is the car? Why did you take it away from mot2? Ball joint is an easy fix, pay them and you would be on your way.

Sounds like OP is an expert, not sure what he need help with, as he knows more than the people that have mot his car...

And go to the police..... WTF

I think I'd change the bulbs and taken that receipt, plus service garage receipt of shock absorber inspection, back for a free retest at first place - MOT's are £50/pop

Who pays £50 for an MOT? The max I've ever paid for the car is £30

yes I used to drive 20 miles there and back for that, local place who do a reputable job, on their premises, not caning the car to another .. was ok £45
e: and they have done well priced repairs too, so offer a reliable package

was going to say only ever paid 35 for mine and that went up from 30 guess cause i try and keep using the same where possible, i trust them to be fair and not just pass for the sake of it.

Thank you all for your comments. In regards to the bulbs they are genuine. I went to Ford and they have confirmed it. So the question is why the person that did the MOT said or implied they were fake?

On the second one the person who did the MOT said “Offside Rear Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn rear lower arm front bush excessively worn”.

The specialists next door that do this day in day out said there was nothing wrong with the suspension. Both read suspensions look very good. So the question is why the person that did the MOT said they were bad?

Something is wrong. Maybe the government should train more often these people.
I have wasted an incredible amount of time and spent around £150 pound in taxi trips.

The third MOT has passed with just an advisory on one tyre.

This has never happened to me before.

Go to the police was a wild thought given that I was so ****** off. How can someone say that the lamps are fake when they are original and working properly? Are they trying to rip people off? The guy at Ford said these lamps need to warm up. If an inspector that does MOTs doesn’t know this he should be doing something else that doesn’t require his brain to think for 1 or 2 minutes.
