Once you have booked your vehicle in for its MoT, remember to take your Vehicle Registration Document – often referred to as the 'V5' document – and a means of paying the current fee.

You can book an MOT up to 28 days in advance of its due date. In fact it is not widely known that the expiry date on your new MOT is 12 months from the expiry of your old one. This means you could have an MOT that last 13 months.

The MoT certificate is only required if you would like the new MoT to run for more than 12 months.

 :p

You could try the motors section, but just in case.

If its the first one since the car was born you'd do well to take the V5 log book so they can enter the details onto the now national database.

Other than that, just the previous years MOT certificate but even that you dont really need.

depending on who you know you just have to beep your horn on your way past to get them to print one off ready to pick up on the way back. :p

Ahhh, those were the days. :p

You don't actually need any paperwork whatsoever to get an MOT.

However, if your current MOT hasn't expired, and is due to expire within the next 28 days, take your current MOT certificate with you, and they will provide you a new certificate which is dated 1 year from the expiry of the previous certificate.

Had my MOT today too :p

Googled the same questions this morning and just took my V5.

Passed apart from the rear passenger sidelight! I checked this on the weekend. Ahwell he chucked a new one in FOC. :) £40

Bah, mine failed spectacularly. :p Needs new front discs, new wishbones and the front to rear brake pipe has corroded. I expected more to be wrong with the suspension actually, so it wasn't too much of a surprise. Good thing it's not my daily drive anymore though!!

It's the Mondeo, and I was just MOT'ing to find out if it was worth fixing because a guy is interested in buying it. It's just a PITA because I've got to get the brake lines done at the garage as it's a bit of a sod of a job unless you've got a ramp. Discs and wishbones can be done by my handy resident mechanic though ;) I could do with learning how to change the discs anyway (can do pads, but not discs) :)

brake lines are a PITA though - agreed lol.

mondeo discs do have a annoying knack of chemically welding themselves to the flange.

nothing a big hammer cant fix.
