going to build new PC for my lad, plan on using an E8400 and want a board that will overclock and not intrested in crossfire or sli.
But do want a reliable board as it must last a few years to see him through school and must cost less than £70 may go a bit more but would prefer to go a bit less.
Any advice would be great .

Asus P5Q Intel P45
Could probably get a p35 based board but why buy older tech, but if you do the below board would be good.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-243-AS&tool=3 that board is good and has ddr3 support as well as ddr2.

But the thing is by the time ddr3 is mainstream there will be a totally new socket and intel cpu making the current p35/p45 boards redundant.
personally I'd go with a p45 chipset based board.

yea that was part of my problem p35 or p45.
I have not realy kept up on boards in the last 6 months so dont know to much about the p45 boards. All I know realy is the PCI Express 2.0 on the on these boards.

pci express 2.0 works fine on p35 boards just do a bit of searching and see which p35 boards can clock e8400/e8500 high without breaking a sweat.
