Hello,

I am planning to get a new motherboard and CPU cooler for my system to go with the rest of my components.

Components:

PSU: Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 850W
GPU: 2 x HIS 7950 in Crossfire
RAM: Teamgroup 16GB (2 x 8GB) 1600Mhz
CPU: Intel Haswell i7 4700k
Case: Corsair 650D so supports full ATX or mATX.

So I was thinking for mobo, the GA Z87X-OC Z87 board:

Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

For the CPU cooler:

BeQuiet Dark Rock 2 CPU Cooler

Ideally I want to have good spacing for the GPU's in Crossfire to keep the temps low. Also to have both PCI-E slots running on as high a bus speed as possible.

So will these meet my criteria?

1. Good spacing on the board for Crossfire GPUs?
2. Enough space to fit the CPU Cooler leaving a big enough gap between it and the top GPU?
3. Crossfire PCI-E bus speeds remain good (when using Crossfire on this board will they both run at 8x or 16x)?

I will only be applying a mild CPU overclock, but this board looks good for the money and is within my budget.

Good choice in cooler, I had the Dark rock pro 2 and it was the best air cooler I have owned. It is very big though so space between the top GPU and the CPU cooler might be close.

I couldn't really see the difference between the Dark Rock 2 Pro and the Dark Rock 2 - except that the Dark Rock 2 Pro had an extra 120mm fan. Maybe other differences too but OCUK only have the Dark Rock 2 in stock at the moment anyways.
