...to work with the HIS x1950 PRO 256MB and 2GB of Gail Value PC3200 400Mhz.

Im thinking dual core, Ive got about £250-300 left over from buying the gfx card so hit me with it.

Also im a bit behind on the hardware, I usually just catch up on everything whenever I need an upgrade :), Whats AM2 (assume its a socket? better then 939?).

Thanks.

Edit: oh forgot, this is for games :)

Looks as if the RAM is DDR, not DDR2. Most of the AM2 Motherboards on Overclockers if not all seem to be DDR2 ram so you current RAM will not work. Finding a dual core CPU to work with a DDR Motherboard maybe hard, although I'm sure one of the tech heads will prove me wrong.

Ok, well do you want to go down the AMD route or do you want a snazzy new Intel Core2Due system.

I would think AMD as I already got the ATI card, arnt the AMD processors better for gaming or something?

the Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.13GHz (1066FSB) - Retail looks nice :)

Will I be needing a Intel 775 (975X Chipset) mobo for that?

Best of with a 965P chipset, so Gigabytes S3, DS3, DS4 or DQ6, or the Asus P5B

Sell your PC3200 ram, its still very in demand. Should get 100 pound for it at least. Then you have a 400 pound budget for your cpu, mobo and ram.

I suggest this!

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
(£99.86)

OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
(£146.86)

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
(£124.54)

Sub Total :£315.97
Total :£380.96

Just had a look about that bundle looks pretty good for me.
Yeah im gonna be flogging my

x800GTO2 (Bout £50 on auction site)
RAM (bout £100 like u say)
and
mobo (MSI k8n neo4)
so I should get quite a bit, all with original packaging :).

That added to my current £250-300 will probably give me enough for that bundle.

and apprently the processor is pretty good for overclocking.

Wow very nice, my mind is settled then, Ill get what Thermaltake says. Might have some money left over for a new case! and maybe a nice CPU cooler...

New DVD Reader/writer...
Could do with a new harddrive as well :D

Okay I put the order in yesterday but it didnt get posted untill today, still not got the delivery conferm email so it will probably get here Monday :/.

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB)
OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

Im hoping to get 3Ghz out of the processor but Ill be happy with 2.8 :), Ive been reading up and have a question.

What relation does the RAM to overclocking the CPU, Ive seen people commenting that their ram is holding there CPU back. Explain please :D

Well the RAM usually goes up in relation to the FSB. So when people say their RAM is holding them back, it means that they have a high FSB and their RAM cannot achieve the same speed as the FSB.

So does that mean I will automaticly be overclocking my RAM at the same time as my CPU?

and do you think i can get 2.8 at least with the OcUK Value ram?

sorry for all the questions :)
