Hi all. I'm going from a gigabyte z87 ud4hh with a g3258 to a Asus z97 gaming with a 4690k.

If i use the old ssd windows instal, obviously I will have some drivers to install, but is there any issues doing this? Is there a simple way to remove the drivers for the hardware on the old board?

Really CBA to install windows and all my programs again lol

I can understand the cpu change but not the motherboard change. Replacing a Z87 board with a Z97 board gain's you very little apart from the M2 slot. Performance will be about the same.

Although its a pita, I would still do a fresh install. SSD space is still a premium I feel and its nice to know that the register is clean again. Installing window on a SSD is quick, its mainly the windows update. You can get away without reinstalling your games if you put them in a different partition and ninite is useful for programs.
Having said that it should work fine without reinstalling Window.

Yeah windows updates take hours on my connection. Also I've got loads of programs, lightroom, photoshop, premier pro, after effects etc etc all set up the way I want them so its a big job to get everything back to how I want it.

If I install all the drivers for the new mobo, is there a method I can use to remove the unused drivers for the old hardware?
