Hi guys i was wondering if you could help me. Very soon im going to upgrade my motherboard, cpu and ram. I was going to buy one of the bundles from the site but unfortunately the motherboard included in this bundle is sold out so im going to have to buy stuff seperately.

Heres what im wanting to get - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-312-AS

So basically my question is are all these parts compatible before i go ahead and buy them?

Cheers Terry

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

They should all work together but if you want to upgrade to the new Deneb (Phenom 2) cores at some point in the future you need a motherboard with the new 750i southbridge i believe. If you are not bothered about Deneb you should be fine.

Thanks mate.

Another quick wee question. My xp is built onto my hard drive. For instance if i want to re-install windows i just restart the computer, hit f8 (i think) and i dont need to enter a serial key nor do i have an xp disk. So im wondering as i will be keeping the same harddrive everything will just be the same except just with upgraded parts?

Im hoping this is the case then i dont need to fork out for a new OS also.

Use XPID or Belarc advisor (both downloadable) to find out what your ID number is if you don't know it then borrow someone elses XP disc (same version), boot from CD/DVD and do a "repair install" when you have built your rig using your original number. Install all the mobo drivers straight after.

you do need the xp installation disk to install xp mate :0

and all those parts are compatable, looking good :)

if you have an OEM copy of xp you will also have to buy a new licence.as you have bought a new motherboard
