hi all,

in one of my work workstations the i think the motherboard has died!

with the power on the light is on to show it has power however the pc will not turn on!

anything i can do to try and determine to problem or is it just a new board?

It could be the MB at fault but it could equally be the memory, cpu, PSU or dodgy cable/connection etc

Try resetting the CMOS and double checking all connections and reseating all hardware - sometimes it can bethat simple.

If that doesn't work you could try a skeleton setup - just the cpu, 1 stick of memory (swap out memory with known working memory if you have any to hand) and gfx (if not onboard) everything else disconnected and see if you get any signs of life.

If you have a known working PSU it may be worth trying that in the system also, if you have any spare compatible memory, it would be worth testing it in the suspect rig - that way you can rule out/in memory and the PSU as possible culprits which would be a great start.

EDIT: What's the spec of the work rig?
