My desktop PC failed to start this morning and after swapping pretty much everything around I tried a different motherboard. It worked but wouldn't recognise my RAID disk set (different chipset so not unexpected).

The old motherboard is an XFX MicroATX with nForce 630i chipset - quite old now. I can't find a replacement with the 630i but does anyone a) have one spare or more likely b) suggest a replacement that will recognise my RAID disk set?

Not only did my desktop fail, I gave away my games PC PSU to save a friend and the replacement hasn't arrived.

have you tryed ether heat gunn re-flowing or oven re-flowing your old motheboard, it may breath some life into it if the solder has broken anywhere, other than that it would be handy if you posted what socket your motherboard is so someone can try and find you a replacement, also the raid set-up support list would be good so we know what chipset you need.

just a gues , what about this? its a nForce 630a

Cheers Zac, As I listed, the motherboard is an nforce 630i which means Intel 775 and nforce RAID controller.

Being the inpatient type it's been replaced with G41 motherboard. One of the RAID disks was readable so I managed to get everything back.

good, im glad you got everything sorted, sorry i didn't know what the nforce 630i chip set supported.

Hee hee, I usually leave something for the responders to think about, it tends to get answers from people who know their stuff :D At least you replied :)

raid wont work on a diff board which means u need to go in raid utility an undo the raid config. which will mean u will lose all data. then once cleared do the raid 0 agin as fresh for new MB
