Motherboard & DVD Drive Problem.

Hi Chaps,

My brothers having a problem with his new PC. He's just built it and is having a few troubles.

He has an Asus P7P55D-E LX Mobo and an LG GH22NS50 drive.

He boots up and after startup it says 'SATA2 atapi drive incompatible.'

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

does the drive spin up or give any indication of activity at all with a disk in? if not can u try the drive in another pc to make sure its not dead. also do the usual checks that all cables are firmly attached. failing that check in bios that cd/dvd drives are being detected, usually with the 'auto' function. i've also read somewhere that it can be caused by incorrect cmos settings so maybe a cmos reset might clear this. hope some one ofthese suggestion help
