Can anyone recommend me a good motherboard for overclocking my Q6600. I currently have an XFX 680i lt, but as I have now found out for myself, it does not like overclocking!

Anyway, I would like to spend less than 80 if possible!

Thanks in advance

Yeah I have been looking at that, do you think its worth paying an extra £25 for a Asus P5k Premium? My budget is only a guideline really, but obviously everyone wants to spend as little as possible! Haha.

YES simple answer

Ok then, same question really, is it worth the extra £10 (or whatever) to the P5k premium then?

Sorry to be such a numpty! Got to learn somehow I suppose.

Thanks for the replies so far :)

P5K is an older p35 chipset motherboard, so if buying new youd be best of with a newer p45 based board such as the p5q which are great with quad cores.

remove the link quickly! ul get burnt and eaten by hamsters that run this forum!

blah blah blah old tech, its like one of the best OC'ing board ever

Oops! Thanks!
I feel like such a numpty asking so many questions, but for overclocking purposes, and P5Q's I should avoid? Or are they are all good?

Currently using the deluxe version of the p5q with a q6600 clocked @3.8ghz, have never had any issues at all. The pro version has a few less features but will still oc as much.:)

I use a low end P5Q-VM because I wanted to use the onboard graphics while I saved for a GPU, took my E8400 to 4.7 before I backed off (hot, hot, hot!), cost me £83.00 in the days before I had heard of OCUK (ahem).

Right, I think I shall go for the P5Q pro then! Thanks a lot for your help guys. You have been most helpful! First time on the forum too!

Cheers
