As per title, I got the Asus Strix B650-E Gaming Wi-Fi & the Phantex Revolt SFX 850W. Is it ok to just use one of the two connectors or should I change the psu? Funny thing is the 750w version has two but it doesn’t seem to an atx 3.0 psu as it doesn’t have the new pci-e connector

The manual will normally have this info.

Just looked - it doesn't mention running with one, I wouldn't risk it personally.
This is what it says

Be fine with one. the manual clearly has a typo should be "plug or both plugs" amd system aint going to draw enough to ever need more than one.

Yeah that's pretty poorly worded. "Ensure to connect the 8-pin power plugs or both 8-pin power plugs".

If there's a reason to only connect one over two then it should clearly be stated in the manual.

I'd give Asus support a nudge and say that snippet in the manual isn't very clear.

Not sure I’m going to overclock but if I do will the one connector be enough or will I need two for that?
You cant overclock it anyway, a 7800X3D is multiplier locked.

My manual for my X670E Gene says the same thing, so I wouldnt over think it, im sure 1 is fine, just looks like a typo to me, if you flip through the manual you'll get to the basic installation section which says this:

Is it? Well I guess that’s one less thing I need to worry about, I’ve seen that page as well.

ATX_12V_1 You only need to plug in the 4x4/8pin CPU Connector from PSU.

2nd ATX_12V_2 for OC using a high end CPU & using Liquid H, Just a marketing thing.

Don't even attempt to OC that 7800X3D  they Burn up & might even take the motherboard with it.

As said, it should be fine with one 8Pin ATX12V/EPS connector plugged in. I am pretty sure all A620 boards, for instance, only have 1 connector but support 7950X. How well it runs it may be another conversation, it may not run with the highest boost frequencies or clocks.

Actually thinking about it, doesn't the 7800X3D only pull 88w under load even though its a 120w Part?
