Hi guys and gals,

My Asrock Xtreme 4 Gen 3 Z68 socket 1155 mother board has died after a fine 5 year service. It was hooked up with an Intel 2700k and Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz DualQuad Channel Kit, overclocked and watercooled. Seeing as Socket 1155 boards are like rocking horse poop, it's probably time for an overhaul. I've been waiting for a while anyway since nothing seemed worth upgrading too as my 2600k seemed more than fine. So... I've been out the loop for a while, need some ideas. I read a bit about the last Intel refresh and they seemed a bit meh. The new AMD rang, however, sounds like they've finally brought out a range worth looking at. Any suggestions for a setup that will put a smile on my face? I'll be gaming at 2560x1600 using a Sapphire Radeon R9 Nitro 390X 8192MB. Not looking to spend ridiculous amounts... but will if I get a significant bang for buck.

Cheers,

Jed

I'm about to get an AMD 1700x, 8 core 16 thread processor, it's probably more than you want to spend on a processor but I'm sure they are worth it. I'm just waiting for reviews, specifically for which motherboard has everything I need before I make the purchase.

It's only a couple of days to go until we will know everything, if there was a good time for a system to fail now would be it!

If you can wait until benchmarks are out for ryzen it might be the upgrade option for you at a better price point.
