What is the latest tech / socket motherboard now? Z97, X99?

I am looking for a decent quality overclocked bundle but i'm not sure what I'm looking for in terms of decent motherboard.

I tend to go with Asus or Gigabyte. What would be considered a good choice?

really the only requirement is that it has one legacy PCI slot for an old pro audio soundcard that I still need.

Good stability at overclock and no common bugs with a model is also essential

Any advice?

Z97 SOC Force and a i7 4690/4790K if you want a great top end overclocking board with excellent behavior and no "weird" stuff when push the limits.
