Hi,

I currently have an Asus P5K-E with 4gb and an Intel 9550 cpu and I am looking to upgrade my setup with more memory. I am leaning towards two solutions:

1)I can upgrade my memory from 4gb Kingston Hyper X to 8gb, but it costs a lot to buy equally fast memory and I read in the forums that P35 with 8gb has problems.

2)I can upgrade my motherboard to a P45/DDR3 and also get a fast 6gb set.

I need your help in the second option as to which combination is the best.

I dont really care about overclocking. I want stability, expandability, and a future-proof solution.

Thank you in advance

Why not buy an i5 750, Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R and 4GB DDR3 10666/12800 ram and sell your current LGA775 hardware to partially fund it...

My problem is not with the system's performance. I just want to increase the ram. So I dont really need a new cpu. Right now I ordered another pair of Kingston memory (same as the one I have). Lets hope it will work

if the systems performance and speed is OK and you have 4gig of RAM I would probably go with an HDD drive upgrade to SSD - really peps things up. Doesn't answer your question but an SSD should improve swap file speed. I have an Intel gen2 80 gig - its a thing of beauty.
