Motherboard memory voltage question

I have a Gigabyte P31-DS3L with 4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets.

Will there be a problem if I want to use PC8500 RAM on this board? eg something like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...al Channel Platinum Series DDR2 (OCZ2P10664GK) ?

As the RAM is rated as 2.1 - 2.2V.

Should be fine. You can set the voltage to 2.1-2.2v in that board.

Why they can't implement something in the chips so that the motherboards set up RAM optimally on insertion is beyond me. You board should be fine though. If I remember correct from my last Gigabyte the option will be to change the voltage up in 0.1V increments. If you are looking to use the RAM at full speed I would probably go straight up to +0.4V.

Also bear in mind that the system won't clock the RAM that high by itself. You will probably need to adjust the FSB and memory multiplier settings.
