I have purchased a 600t corsair graphite case, 850 ax psu, and an asus maximums extreme - z case.

I have installed all the parts including the motherboard. I wanted to test the corsair fans and power lights but when I turned on the power the power button does not function and none of the fans turn on. All the motherboard lights do turn on.

I want to ask why the case fans are not working or why the power led button is not working, I have checked all the connections and everything looks fine. When installing the components I was very careful using an antistatic wrist band.

I have not yet installed the CPU or the Ram as I will be purchasing these components next month. Could this be the reason why?

This is my first pc world, and I am little concerned and any help would be really appreciated.

Can anyone please help?

Thank you for the suggestions, I guess I will have to wait till I purchase the cpu and the ram until I can be sure every thing is working as it should.

Unplug all leads from the motherboard. Short the green wire on the 24 pin ATX main connector with one of the blacks on the same connector. All items not controlled by the motherboard will spring to life. This includes fans, fan controllers, LEDs and hard drives.

It's not going to be possible to check the motherboard without a CPU. It sort of needs that to do everything really.

Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean when you say short? I have watched a corsair tech stick a pin the holes of the power supply you describe and then turn the PSU on to check fan operation is this what you mean when you say short the PSU ?

Yea that kind of thing. Uplug the psu. Get a paper clip and unravel it till it's straight then bend it in two and put one end in 13 and the other in 14 if using a 20 pin atx psu or 15 and 16 if using a 24 pin atx psu. Then plug the psu back in and turn it on and it will run allowing you to supply your fans and leds with power to test them without the motherboard or cpu, ram etc
