Motherboard Noob!! Help with what to look for in a quality motherboard?

Plz help i need help to know what to look for in a motherboard its one of the areas of a pc ive never had to deal with and as im now looking to buy all the componants of my new pc a bit at a time i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. Im hopeing to get a decent quad core proccesser but im not sure what to look for in a motherboard as regards to compatabilty and decent specs for upgradeing
 
Well welcome to forums

I would try giveing some inforamtion, like are wanting AMD Phen,intel quad or i7. What parts do you already have? what are using ther pc for and do you have a budget?
 
well basically ive got nothing yet apart from my screen im starting from scratch my budget is a difficult one as im never sure what i can afford from time to time im hoping to get and i7 as if im building a new machine im trying to future proof it as best as a pc can be
 
For i7 - pretty much all the boards are top class. Have a look at the Asus P6T series and the Gigabyte and Biostar boards.
