hi guys . im putting my old bfg nvidia 680isli motherboard in my sons old computer case together with my old core 2 duo e6600 and 4 gb geil memory , put it all together ok , when ive turned it on i got the post running and its not picking up my saitek usb keyboard so i can access the bios settings prior to installing windows , ive tried clearing the cmos with the jumpers so the defaults would be loaded which it did but made no difference .......what can i do so the motherboard will pick up the keyboard , as it has used this keyboard before ? by the way i have tried a usb to ps2 adapter but still didnt work ?

y suggestion wud be to use a ps2 keyboard as ive had trouble with my saitek usb kyboard workingin the bios, maybe also check if the keyboard setting in the bios is setup for usb devices.

well im going to try a ps2 keyboard tomorrow im borrowing one of a mate , so ill know more then , im useing a new hard drive also so until i can get a keyboard workin i cant do nothing ! just dont understand why it dont work cos it used to , although i aint used it for 4 months

You'll most probably have to enable USB compliant devices in the BIOS before it will allow you to use a USB keyboard. Get a PS2 one and search around a bit until you find the right options

this can be a real pain, some usb keyboards just will not work with older systems and bios.

another usb keyboard may be fine though a ps2 will definatly work if usb does not

usb legacy setting may help but not guaranteed
