Initial specs.
MoBo Asus P5N32-E SLI Bios 1403
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 E6600
2 x 1 GB Crucial DDR2 667 Dual channel
PSU Seasonic 600 watts sli ready
Nvidia Geforce 7950GT 512MB
2 x 200GB Maxtor Sata 2 HDD in Raid 0
Windows Vista Ultimate - 32 bit

The system was stable and I could overclock by 20% using AI Booster. I could not go any further.

I wanted to use Flight simulator FSX but I was getting very poor frame rates so I decided to try to improve things.

My first purchase was an Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 Go Stepping and I increase the Ram to 2 x 2GB. Because of the RAM quantity problem with Vista-32 bit, I changed to Vista - 64 Bit

I started to get problems particularly when trying to overclock.
Again I use AI Booster but could not get beyond 10%. Going over this, the system freezes or automatically restarting.
Then the system would not POST. It would not post for 3 attempts the it would complete post and not load the operating system. Then it would.

I changed to RAM to 2 x 2 GB and 2 x 1 Gb Crucial Ballastix they are in the correct Dimm sockets for Dual channel.

I purchased a second Nvidia Geforce 7950GT 512 MB graphics card and using SLI

Still the same problem with the overclocking, nothing more than 10% otherwise crashing.

I changed the PSU to Cooler Master M850 watts thinking it might have been a power problem.

Still there is no change I and unable to get above 10% using AI Booster.

I have been running at the basic 2.4 GHz speed since changing the PSU yesterday and everything is stable. However when I turned the system on this morning this is the sequence:
I checked the seating of the CPU and fan before starting.

1. Swiched on - Fans and Drives power up and running - nothing on the screen and no POST

2. Pressed reset button - same result

3. Pressed reset button - POST and "warning system post failure" press F1 to continue or Del to enter the Bios setup. I pressed F1 and the operating system loaded. This is where I am now.

I am pretty certain there is an issue with the MoBo and as it is only 13 months old it is still under warranty.

I have tried both Bios updates 1403 and 1404 with no difference.
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.

BTW I am now not able to overclock using AI booster. It shuts down and reboots and again it took half a dozen attempt to Post etc.

Everything is set back to default settings in the Bios.

I have removed AI Booster from my PC and I will try to overclock within the Bios.

I have noted some settings in other posts so I will gently try it.
