With my current system I have quick sync exporting with my Z series motherboard.
I know an X series MB doesn't have the quick sync option.

What's AMD's equivalent to the "Z" and "X" boards?

(I was about to place an order for an X99 board and i7 6700K)

Sorry for asking what might look like a simple question but I don't know :)

Thank.

AMD has no equivalent chipset to Intel's X99. AMD's newest X370 is comparable to Intel's Z170/Z270.
About the order you mentioned, i7 6700K needs socket 1151 board (Z170/Z270 chipset). It doesn't work with X99.

FYI AMD won't have quicksync because it's an Intel technology. There is a chance that Ryzen APUs will support a similar technology but the new CPUs they are releasing soon don't have a built in GPU.

APU is what AMD call their CPUs that have a built in GPU. Normally the built in GPU on an APU is far more powerful than what is built into a typical Intel CPU.

Regarding Intel, nearly all their mainstream consumer chips include a GPU that is capable of quicksync. These are chips that use socket 115x.

Xeons do not, nor do the enthusiast i7s that use socket 2011 or 2011-3.
