My motherboard GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L went dead and was under warranty.
Unfortunately my retailer does not have a replacement board in stock but has an Abit IP35V Core 2 Quad. Is this a good replacement ?

imo it's not really a like for like replacement, you would want an IP35 or IP35 Pro not an IP35V which is a low end P35.
 
Well I decided to opt for the higher end GA-P35-DS3P board and pay £15 to replace the GA-P35-DS3L. Thanks for the tips guys. Much appreciated.
