Motherboard RAM compatibility

Evening
I have recently received MSI trident 3 8th gen PC
it has i5 8400 and 1660ti
I would like to upgrade RAM with HX426S15IB2/16 which is 16GB single stick CL15 1.35v
Current RAM is 8GB 1.2v
Am I safe to think that it should be compatible?
PC is like a laptop in a way, custom mobo (MS-B9201 (H310) which I cant find any info on
There is no PSU, instead it uses external laptop-like PSU brick which is rated 230w (ADP-230EB T)
It takes laptop sized ram 260pin
Can anyone assist?

I think you would be better getting 2 8gb sticks to run in dual channel. As far as compatibility I'm not sure, you could check qvl or contact msi support to see if they can advise.

2 sticks would be better? as in dual channel 8gb x 2 would be better than single channel 16gb?
