Hey guys, I posted this in general rather than a specific board cos its about a motherboard/RAM combo.

I was hellbent on purchasing the Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68, LINK

until I came across the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 Intel Z68, LINK

Having looked at the specs and a few reviews, I think the Gigabyte one will be sufficient for my needs, hell, it even has extra USB and Sata too.

What I would like to know is, if I get the Gigabyte model, I am looking to purchase 8gb of RAM to go with it, ideally 2x4gb. I believe that some modules can be restricted on certain motherboards. Obviously it will be with a 2500k SB, that i hope to OC and I do want to get an aftermarket cooler at some point soon, not made my mind up which one yet, hence my point about possible restrictions.
So could you spec me 8GB of RAM please in the £60 ball park area cos to me RAM is RAM surely, but alas, deep inside my bones I know its not.....I just don't know why....lol

Also the Gigabyte board above, decent enough, yes ??

Just a follow up on this post regarding the memory. Thanks for pointing me to the Kingston but I see OC have got the Corsair XMS3 on special until tomorrow, LINK HERE
My concern is the first review regarding voltages, where the reviewer posts :
Though if wanting to run at the rated value, you will need to enable the XMP profile in the BIOS. And be aware that the voltage it them sets is 1.65v! Which is towards the top end of what SB motherboards are supposed to support. Though it "should" be capable of running at around 1.5v

Is this an issue running this high or not? And how do the Corsair measure up against the Kingstons, much the same? or does one have more general stability/quality.
Cheers.

Their much the same, the voltage isn't that important either 1.5-1.65v is fine. I would get the Corsair personally.

That gigabyte board is brilliant for the money

Thanks for tht Stulid....think I will go for the Corsair to be honest, I like the comments about their low profiles.

I did go for the Gigabyte in the end...just awaiting its arrival.
