Hi there,

I’m looking to go quad core with the Intel q6600 which I hope to overclock to at least 3ghz. Is it worth upgrading my current old Asus P5NE-SLI (latest BIOS) nvidia nforce 650i motherboard for a more recent one like the Asus P5Q Pro. Will the newer board be a better overclocker for the q6600?

Thanks for any help,
Jeremy.

The P5N-E SLI is terrible for overclocking quads, with about 3ghz being the max.

So if you want more than 3ghz then a new board will be needed.

You should get 3Ghz with a little effort.

Much more than that doesn't make a huge difference except in benchmarks
