A problem. I have rebuilt 2 PC boxes a while ago to "lend out to" my 2 grandsons.
These were built from existing "boxes" and accumulated legit Win 7 DVDs / various reusable parts, etc .
In the dying days of Maplin I acquired, at knock down prices, 2 motherboard / processor / memory bundles which were adequate at the time when they were younger.
One is a Asus Z170-P motherboard with an I5-6400 / 16GB DDR4 set up and this seems to cope (using a Radeon RX580 graphics board) with one boys games (e.g. flight simulator).
The other cheaper one (Asus A68HM-PLUS motherboard with an AMD A6 6400K Black APU processor 16GB DDR3 set up) now fitted with a Radeon RX570 graphics board won't run the flight simulator or other games that its user would like to play.
So box, power supply / SSD / HDD / graphics board OK, BUT motherboard / processor inadequate.
What I would like to know is there an available motherboard / processor that would run things like Microsoft Flight simulator and that I can obtain to swap with the existing motherboard BUT allow me RETAIN the existing 16GB DDR3 memory?? (i.e. save £60).
Any advice please you PC building experts!! Thanks, Mel
