Guys,
Might sound a bit of a daft question but can a motherboard boot itself into a state where at least the BIOS can load, even with no CPU? Or is a CPU the king pin and must be installed before the motherboard can do anything?

Wondering....????

Thanks for the replies.

I was wondering, in my ignorance, that with "todays technology" and all that, that a motherboard might have sufficient processing, even on its own, to get itself in a position so that you could flash the BIOS, etc.

I might so some further research into this.
