Motherboard won't run at 1600Mhz DDR3

Hey guys,

So I built a budget PC with
AMDA8-3870K

Gigabyte GA-A75N-USB3

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) Memory Kit PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3

The problem is is just refuses to run at 1600Mhz, always gives warning and overclock failed messages.

Any suggestions?

Update to a later BIOS?

Have you set the timings/voltage to whats on the labels on the RAM?

Yep i have tried everything and i saw this on Gigabyte official forum, do you think that applies to FM1 too?

Wouldn't have thought so, in Llano reviews online, faster RAM has been used to show the speed improvements gained for the built-in GFX core which relies on system RAM for best performance.

Even my own testing of Llano was fine with 1600MHz RAM - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18338581tulid

the mobo specs even say it supports 2000mhz oced

Oh yeah, and it's true a lot of the performance falls down the the RAM speed.

I dont know then, you sure you have flashed a newer BIOS on to it? F2 mentions improved DDR compatibility.

it already came with F2 and that didn't help so i tried F3c beta that didn't help neither.

Well i got two DDR3 1600Mhz sticks that i know work at 1600Mhz on my main rig which i will test tomorrow and see what's at fault

I was told i also need to overclock the CPU speed if i increase the ram speed, is that true?

Nope, you can select a memory ratio seperate from the CPU speed.
