Hey folks!

So I can't play most 3d FPS or 3d walkabout games as I feel sick/nauseous after about 10 mins.

Out of the question at ANY time of the day...

Doom 3 / HL2 / Saints Row (360) / GTA : VC etc

However, explain this one...

I can't play BF2 in the daytime as I feel as above in 10 mins...

HOWEVER;

I can play BF2 for HOURS on end in the night with NO issues at all.

Is that weird?!

Have you tried changing the refresh rate on your monitor. If mine is too low I get bad headaches.

I believe it has something to do with the point of view the camera is at. I think its that because there's a command in HL2 which changes the POV and helps people with motion sickness.

a lot of people have problems with hl2, thats the only one ive heard of though

Prey had me ill.

I get it too, thankfully i only get it in games that require thinking out puzzles or finding something thats hidden as im impatient. Most FPS games im fine with apart from the odd few.

Its not weird, althought its not common. :p

It used to happen to me now and then in UT2k3. And only in certain maps. Especially if I zoomed about in spectator mode.

only game that has ever bothered me is Alien Vs Predator when playing as the alien, you move so quickly and there is no up or down when hugging the walls.

Can you play BF2 during the day if you have the curtains drawn and its dark?

I havent tried the curtains thing... I'd probably get thrown out my house for doing that in the daytime though lol

Does Dramamine actually work for gaming motion sickness??

A friend of mine couldn't play the PS1 platformer where your character is a jester type person (I forget the name) for more than about 15 minutes without feeling sick. I think it was all the colours :D

That was the only one he ever had problems with though, I've never experienced it myself.

pandemonium

very common indeed, I did have an issue at first, but after changing a few things made it better also found TFT better than CRT.

things to try

Refresh rate as discussed.
Change room lighting, and try a darker background for the wall agains which the monitor is facing.
Also drink more water during play, noy funny stuff like red-bull.
Try small changes in colour/contrast and brightnes on the monitor.

Hope all having problem find a solution.....

I used to get sickness like this, I recall reading something about it many years ago; something to do with being unable to 'see' the horizon in RL... or something like that.

I just kept on playing and it eventually went away

Scort.
