Hi Folks,

I passed my car test around 2005 so I have a full UK driving licence for a car.
Now, I understand that I must pass a CBT? test in order to ride a bike upto 125cc but I don't understand what happens from here onwards - do I have to pass a motocycle test again in order to ride a larger bike than 125cc and does already having a driving licence make any difference.

I was just quoted £500 as an approximate to do the whole thing - I expected it to be less considering I'm already a road user. DVLA need not be so hard on experienced drivers imho but its a money making exercise, endorsed by the government.
I suppose that I can buy a nice bike that I want, then do it on that, rather than having to buy a smaller one then sell it passing.

If you get the bike bug then it'll be worth every penny.

I always had the bike bug since I had a few bikes when I was 16-18 yo, I always said I would ride but life got in the way. The roads have changed since then but I love the idea and it means the missus can have the car in the day when I use it for work - weather permitting!
