So thanks to the recommendations here I have just had a set of Michelin Road Pilot 2's fitted and they are great.

I would like to get some boots for commuting, I don't want to spend too much so was maybe going to look at a good set second hand on eBay.

What makes should I look for / avoid?

Thanks.

Iz

if you want boots that last 3yrs upwards then the sidi black rain have been the best so far ive used, avoid rst boots lasted a month at the most

You're best off going to a local store and trying some boots on, some will fit you better and more comfortably than others and then going online and finding a pair in the right size. I tried on several different brands and models from each brand before finding a boot that suited me and my needs.

My TCX are great boots. I'll buy TCX again.

I also have a pair of Weise boots, only got them this week, and they're not as comfortable out of the box as my TCX were though I fully expect them to be a lot better once broken in.

Hate to be a kill joy, but the 'best' pair will be the make that fit your feet best. Sadly, for me, Sidi are the ONLY boots that fit my feet. Others had tight spots or were just a little awkward. My Sidi's lasted a while, but the soles ran out very fast.

Id have to agree with Incinerat0r and agnes, best to try loads on and see what fits best, then shop online when you know what it is your after.

I tried on at least 10 different boots the last time i got some, from trainer like, all the way upto full blown boots. For me personally i found the ankle type boots (TCX ones) fit the best and where more comfy, over the full blown boots.

But i guess you can find the ones that fit you well, then go by the makers and if they where recommended.
