Hi guys, I am trying to source a Ducati 748 engine, or a 916 engine.

Mine has gone bang and I can't afford a bottom end rebuild so am on the last resort of a new engine.

Anyone know of any breakers?

Damn unlucky dude :(

Other than silverlakes you could just trawl through ebay, there are quite a few breakers on there and when you find one give the number a ring see if they have anything.
 
I have called about 10 breakers already, no luck :(

This sucks, sun is out, I have forgotten what it feels like to ride the beast!

Urgh, I need a stiff drink :(

Oh, wan't a laugh, quoted £2.5k for the work to be done, bottom end rebuild and replacement of casing, bearings and other bits and bobs :(

There are a set of casings on ebay at the moment at 99p, that would bring the cost down a fair bit!

Or you could buy another 916/748 for that money, steal the engine then sell the parts on ebay and probably make most of your money back. :D

Have you asked on any forums ?

Ducatisti , Ducati-Up-North , and Ducati Owners club ?

And don't forget the bikers cafe on here cos you'll get ya bum smacked for posting in motors LOL
 
One step ahead mate, have spoken to a guy who rebuilds engines, but he is on holiday from tomorrow till the 16th. But seems promising as he has the parts :)
