So it's popular for auto-renewal of insurance to occur, this i know. But my policy with Motorcycle Direct doesn't state that the auto-renewal will take money 5 days beforehand without a renewal notice....

*****!

I rang them up and gave them an earful. It was on my list to do tomorrow/Saturday to talk to them about a renewal and haggle down etc etc or go elsewhere. But no, didn't get a chance!

I'm getting a refund and not going back and will make sure to inform insurers that i don't ever want auto-renewal.

Just thought i'd let you know. Just in case.

Sadly most motorcycle / insurance is a minefield. They're all con artists who are more than happy to fleece the hell out of you with a smile on their face, knowing that they're covered by some tiny small print on line 12 of paragraph 18 on page 164 of their Ts&Cs. I tread VERY carefully come renewal time.

I am very brutal when it comes to renewal done it over 30 times it's a game we have to play and I always have them laughing at the end and all ways strike a deal just relax and enjoy the haggling.

The sad fact is insurance companies are not your friend and will bend you over at a drop of a hat.

company I was with tried to ring me everyday for a month to tell it was up, when I finally asked them for a quote it was the most uncompetitive quote ever! I was kind of surprised, figured they might actually want the business... I tend to pay one off with card so they can't auto renew unless they save card details which I tell them not to

I always find it funny when they send their renewal quote through the door. It's worded as though they're the best possible price ever and that they're really pleased with it. Yeah, it's double the price of anyone else AND higher than last year!

Just got off the phone with them.

£267 for the year comprehensive. Includes pillion, kit cover (£1000), flexiride and legal. No excess (compulsory £300).

It didn't go down from last year but it's with a different underwriter because I won't go with markerstudy again who are complete and utter ****

Gocompare said best rate was £230 so I guess the price is ok.

Spent about an hour altogether.

Similar thing happened with me a while ago and never realised as I got sidetracked and forgot to read the letter they sent
