Went to see Motorhead this week, never seen them before and thought they are the kind of band you have to see once.

Now I'm not a metal head by any means, but thought they were very good :)

I went to see them last night at Hammersmith and they were pretty good, but the gig was spoiled by Lemmy's vocals being totally drowned out and having to waste at least 15 minutes of the gig, every time I wanted to use the pathetic facilities at the Apollo.

I thought that too, and for a 3 piece the sound they were producing was very good if that makes sense.

Agreed. Lemmy seems to play several strings as well which all adds to it. The other thing I like about Motorhead is their musical consistency. They're producing the same stuff now that they did at their peak, good old heavy 'rock n roll' (as Lemmy calls it). I'm tempted to see what their new album is like.

Saw them the other week, they were great, Danko Jones was excellent support aswell, not to sure about Saxon though.

I was impressed with Jones, lots of passion. Saxon were okay but Bifford loves himself too much and they didn't play Wheels of Steel much to the disappointment of the crowd.

I didn't catch Danko Jones, looks like I missed out there.

Last night Saxon did play Wheels of Steel, which went down very well.:)

Never imagined you as the head banging type Kev. :D

We only caught the last song by Saxon so can't comment on them or the chaps before :(

Agree with Kev in that the vocals were a little drowned out, but I've found that quite a few bands in that venue (Great Hall in Exeter) are like that. They tend to also be the bands who just want to crank the guitars all the way up which really makes the vocals suffer, but some bands there do get it spot on so it can be done! Remember seeing the Twang and you couldn't hear the main vocalist as the guitars were just way too loud and tinny :/

It was quite weird when Motorhead came out because audiences didn't really know what they were.
The first concert I saw them at they were supporting Hawkwind but a couple of gigs after that it was not unusual to see an audience full of Punks, Rockers and Teddy Boys.
I suppose this was because Lemmy was often seen wearing a teddy suit and the power they produced was very punk at the time.
(I've told this before) Around 1980 they were headlining a NWOBHM gig at the Victoria Hall and I turned around to my wife and she had fell asleep
I still never let her forget it and make sure all her friends know.
The last time I saw them was playing headliners at an open air concert at Port Vale's ground in 1980.
During Bomber, a bomber flew overhead and let out 6 parachutists and 2 missed the ground.
Also on the bill that day was Blizzard Of Oz with Randy Rhoads on guitar :)

When I saw them they had Clutch supporting. I absolutely adore clutch so it was a great concert :)

I'm still amazed that the total ledge that is Lemmy went to school on this tiny little island that I'm from.
Was even more amazed that Lustmord, who does stuff with Tool (I think) came from just down the road from me aswell. Gobsmacked actually.
Still haven't been to a gig though...
