Motorhead

I started a thread about this last year when I dug my copy out from the attic.

Remember playing this competitively back in 1999 (yes it really was 10 years ago) via modems and then ISDN.

We were in a team called DMV (named after the three founders; DD, Merc & Vertigo - DD was Drunk Driver - who provided a set of replays which were shipped with one of the update patches).

Also remember having a titanic battle with Jeepen (one of the developers at DICE) over the replay he did which shipped with the game (the updated one in one of the patches) which was 10 laps of Neocity in the Avalanche. Files went back and forth for ages as we kept struggling to beat each others times.

Was a superb game and well ahead of its time graphically. Still have a load of replays on my machine, including my fastest run on the Neocity 10 lapper at 9:12 :)

Mine doesn't work in Vista in SP mode but does in MP bizarrely.

I've basically had the same install copied over from drive to drive over the past 10 years though so it might be worth me trying a re-install, normally it just works and only takes up 80meg space which is why I've always kept it on my games drive.

Haha, awesome! I remember downloading a load of ghost's from Barrysworld, which included some epic replays from yourself, Merc, Drunk_Driver, Quaider, Trix, mike-bike et al.

It kinda works for me on Vista, would not install no matter what I did!?!? So had to copy the folder from my XP drive to my Vista drive. It will play SP, when it wants to. Sometimes it'll bring up an error message ... sometimes not? Not tried MP however!

ahaha great game, thanks for reminding me of it :)

i was really in to rollcage as well, i just had enough power to run them at the time lol

Cool :)

If you still have any of them would you mind sending them my way? Have lost a lot of my replays from back then and can't seem to find them archived anywhere online :(

I just binned this disk last week. had that game since I got my Compaq PC when i was about 14 :)

This was on the PSX too wasn't it? I remember how badly i wanted it as a kid, every time we went shopping i always used to stare at the back of the cd case for ages! Never got around to actually getting it.

:(

Cool - my best one lapper of Neocity is in there in which I achieved the near impossible feat of jumping over the start/finish line banner.

Mate of mine refused to believe it was possible until I showed him that replay :)

Lol! I think I was the same, couldn't believe just how fast the likes of Merc, yourself, DD, Trix, mike-bike, Motocycle Boi, Quaider where! Thought I was fast until I saw DD's ghosts on the 3.0 patch, made even worse by all the ghosts avaliable at Barrysworld :)

Sure was on the psx, battling the n64's finest for depth of fog:)

Maybe I had just too many racers on the ps1, but I never saw It as all that great. Fast and very smooth, but never really enjoyed It as I did other racers id play for hours.

I remember it being very popular over at barrysworld though on the pc, personally I was more of a fan of ultimate race pro.

I had this- it was quality but quite hard I think? It is on GoG now I believe.

I also had a game called Ignition- top down, 3D arcade racer, maybe a couple of years older. Any one else remember it?

And finally... Powerslide- I remember this looking incredible back in the day. Also on GOG.

I think motorhead came alive on a decent pc, the fps affected how it played somewhat.

I had powerslide, it did look stunning in its time.
