Couldn't find a thread on it, but one of these will be my next phone.
Which one do you recommend?
G73 is about £230 for 8gb/256gb.
G84 is about £265 and just released for 12gb/256gb.

The processor on G73 seems a bit quicker but 1/3 less RAM. Hmmmm.

Thoughts please?

I'd go for the G84 out of those two.

Even though on paper the processor is older/slower, in reality Qualcomm Snapdragon chips normally outperform the comparable Mediatek Dimensity chips.

More RAM is normally better as well in terms of ongoing updates/support, as means they don't have to spend as much time "optimising" RAM usage when there is hardware to spare.

Very useful links. Also a similar train of thought to what I was thinking but I don't know Mediatek to think how it would perform.

Completely changed my mind whilst waiting for G84 to come out in Argos etc.

The Edge 40 Neo is in there for £50 more which I begrudge but it appears to be significantly better performance.

It lacks expandable storage and a headphone jack but in reality I rarely use it on my phone. Always using headphones on laptop and radio but rarely phone.

So I think I'm decided now. Only thing people complain about is it'll get security updates but only 2 OS updates, presumably to Android 14/15.

Went for Edge 40 Neo and what an awesome little phone.

Admittedly it I am going from a Xiaomi 8T, but very smooth and since i charged it up last night it's used about 35% battery in 19hrs with moderate Facebook/Net usage. Seems very uncluttered compared to the bloatware on the Xiaomi. Only had to delete a few games and TicToc. I play Nerdle, Wordle, Octordle, Sudoku etc so not CoD etc lol.

It's not a gaming phone but the reviews are very good for it. Only issue is lack of storage cards and lack of 3.5mm jack but minor points as 256gb internal storage and you can buy a USB-C->3.5mm jack for £3. Camera seems ok, and case but no screen so might buy a stick on one. It's IP68 so surface waterproof which is good.

Wanted to buy a phone i could get from Argos so could pop it back if anything happens.
