I think that Kimi is now being told to talk as little as possible. I can't believe that anybody (unless mentally ill) wants to talk as little as he does.

I mean, we are now reaching the point where he is answering a question with a facial expression.

So Kimi is mentally ill because he doesn't want to answer stupid questions?

It was a retarded question. 90% of the other drivers would waffle an answer like a politician. Kimi says what he thinks, and good on him for doing so.

So, because he is utterly bemused by a pants-on-head retarded question from a journalist who should know better, that means he's either mentally ill or being told not to talk. Another brilliant pearl from The Wisdom Of Sunama™ ladies and gentlemen :D

I guess it's hard for some people to accept that some people just don't like conversing with idiots...

I have a lot more respect for Kimi these days and it's due to him being different than the rest of the corporate F1 whores, nice to see a different approach to the rest.

Yeah yeah we all slate him for being the ice cream man... but the gets the job done and keeps people guessing :D

Lewis Hamilton has dismissed claims by Bernie Ecclestone that Red Bull were his first choice once he decided to leave McLaren last year.

The 2008 World Champion swapped the Woking squad for Mercedes at the end of last season, but there were rumours that held "private talks" with Red Bull team principal Christian Horner earlier in the year.

Ecclestone has now added fuel to those flames by telling the Daily Mail that 'the 28-year-old British driver asked him to broker a move for him to join Red Bull alongside Sebastian Vettel'.

His comments, though, have not gone down well with Hamilton, who insists he asked his "management team to speak to all teams".

"I'm not quite sure why Bernie keeps making comments about me. It makes me a little bit nervous because we have quite a good relationship," he is quoted as saying in The Guardian.

"I'm quite open with him with a lot of stuff, it is just through respect. I don't really know what to say. I think he said something about Red Bull.

"I said to my management team to speak to all the teams and see what the best options were. There was no team I was particularly pushing for. At the end of the day I chose to be here and I'm happy here. It's the best decision I ever made."

The problem is wider than just the rubber. The regulations are as much of an issue. There's no problem with a soft fast but not very durable tyre if you can make it work with an aggressive strategy. But the current rules don't allow for wildly different strategies so its all about looking after your tyres for 1 lap longer than the guy in front, driving to deltas.

I don't buy the complaints about the tyres being too soft. It was the same story last year and the year before. The teams will work them out and by mid season tyre wear won't be an issue. But the forcing of everyone onto the same tyre management strategy needs to go. We need 3 stops vs 1 stops, and cars being able to use the tyres they work best on.

I think the current tyres in F1 are ridiculous. I mean, ~13-14 laps from a set? When races are over 50 laps long, that's stupid. I remember last season the commentators were amazed that 18 laps were got from a set. It takes away the ability of the drivers to put in a decent length stint of consistent times.

Agree

Nothing wrong with 13-14 laps from a set of soft tyres. Plenty wrong with the two compound rule, the lack of options for the teams with tyre compounds, the allocation of tyres....

What Lewis and other drivers are saying that they can't push anymore.
You think that 13-14 laps is ok well that means that they can only get 1 lap at full speed in the race.

At the first race the teams were saying after 6 laps "look after your tires"! that's not raceing

I think it would be okay if the tyre allocation was increased, the 'must use both compounds' rule was scrapped, the pitlane speed limit was raised and teams could pick any of the Pirelli compounds that they liked rather than be limited to a choice of two.

Oh, and tyre management is very much a part of racing. It's just being taken to extremes at the moment because of the cost of making a pitstop and the lack of tyres to nail on anyway.
