Such a shame P1 and P2 in ALMS are now completely worthless.

Low viewing figures (relatively speaking) and two teams could afford to field P1 cars. Not a recipe for success. I'm not surprised the ALMS board asked for a merger, with the huge decline in entries between 2011 and 2012.

The big shame for me is the loss of the top tier of endurance racing from Sebring. It will be like when the Monte Carlo rally was run as an IRC event, it just wasn't the same.

Le Mans is the only endurance event I know of that attracts any significant interest. Without that, teams won't get the sponsorship that allows them to run\develop P1s. The general public seem to prefer F1\stock cars\touring cars.

Sebring used to be like a test for Le Mans. All the big teams would go and shake down their cars and scope out the competition.

America has some epic endurance races (Petit Le Mans, for example) and in the hey days of ALMS they were very popular. Much more popular than the rather uninspiring WEC races which seem to just blur into obscurity.

Hopefully the return of Porsche will make P1 a 3 team, 9 car fight to ignite the WEC series.

New Russian layout... looks like a typical Hilke track.

Can't read the writing but that big upside down "U" section looks a bit awesome :p

Also looks like it's got a few long straights and some slow speed / quite technical corners.

Most apexes expected to be around 120k so not as slow as it looks. One super-long corner - entry speed 130, exit 300kph!

Schumacher to drive Nordschleife in modern F1 car

That will be amazing to see, and the lap time will be very interesting

I can't see him doing that at anywhere near racing speeds.

How do you set up a modern F1 car to go around the carousel? The banked bit is only as wide as the car, so if he misjudges the corners, the plank will beach to the car, and he would end up flipping into the undergrowth. If you increase the ride height for this, the handling will be horrible in the sweeping corners.
