I thought Grosjean was part of the deal with Renault. He must bring something, as he'd have been out of the door in double-quick time last year. Marked improvement (certainly in terms of his race-craft) this year though. :)

Hopefully maldanado can improve too

This is more like it...

Pasta face needs more love. If he was really a crap driver, he wouldnt have done what he did in barca. He just needs to do what fatjohn has done and start to be a bit more respectful of the rest of the grid.

I cant see Brawn joining McLaren unless its to replace Whitmarsh (how likely is that given that there isnt any rumbles of that happening), otherwise it would be a significant step down in stature wouldnt it?

(It would be a good move by McLaren though if they could agree).

Given how much Brawn is on record as hating the Honda management style (and frequent trips to Japan) Im not sure he would jump back into that - if he was to get a senior appointment.

Im also not sure how JB would appreciate Brawn (even though fo course he wouldnt get much choice, but would McLaren want to upset their lead driver that much. Bit of a gamble to say the least) given how little he was valued at the end of 2009 by Brawn / Mercedes. (Yes I know JB was very public about "wanting a new challange", but I dont believe thats anything like the whole story).

Really? I always assumed it was just a case of Whitmarsh being quite deft in his tactics and poaching Button from under Brawn's nose.

Without knowing how it would turn out - would you really give up a championship winning car / team without something going on in the background?

Brawn was a loop hole car that was only consistently dominant at the start of the season. Red bull caught up and overtook by the end of 2009 and it was clear that they didn't have as much money or talent at the time as Mclaren did. Button didn't leave because they didn't want him. He left because he's a smart guy and generally went to an established team that was financially pretty secure.
Also Mercedes and two German drivers, one being Schumacher no less was a great marketing boost for the team.

I'm pretty sure Grosjean brings Total sponsorship with him. Maldonado brings PDVSA megabucks so I can't see those working together.

I've spoken to someone who knows PDR personally and he has yet to agree anything with anyone. I believe he does still have at least some ties to Mercedes, possibly in the form of a discount on Engines but I'm not sure.

Hmm, there's a thought. DOn't FI have a deal for McLaren 'Technology sharing' and the gearbox and rear end of the car? If Mclaren and FI end up running different engines that will not work!

Yes, they buy in the gearbox and other bits from McLaren. ECU too same as all the other teams. Arrival from Honda in 2015 may change this. Maybe Force India change to Honda? PDR leaves in 2015?

Red Bull, on top of the world?

Definitely something dodgy going on there! His donuts are far too consistent and precise.

It's like the front wheel is bolted down to a swivel that keeps it in place, but allows the rear of the car to rotate around.

Also, Crofty seems to think Pasta face at Lotus is done now...

I understand that Pastor Maldonado has signed for Lotus in the last 24 hours. A blow for Nico Hulkenberg, also in the hunt for a seat there

It drifted off centre, so it can't be fixed (unless there were multiple takes). I'd imagine they just disconnected the rear brakes and held it on the fronts.

There were obviously multiple takes, you can see the tyre marks on the ground when they show him before they start.

Plus DC was crap as doing donuts when I saw him at RoC a few years ago so I wouldn't trust him to do proper ones up there :p
