Yeah completely forget about this, how disappointing not to finish your final race.

David Coulthard said:
David Coulthard (DHL Paket Mercedes AMG C-Coupé), retired: “Competing in my last race here at Hockenheim in front of so many DTM fans has been a great honour. I had obviously intended securing a better result on the occasion of bowing out from the DTM. However, you can’t pick and choose in the DTM, this is racing at the highest level. I have had an absolutely brilliant time during the past three years in the DTM and will always look back with fondness to this period in my life. Many thanks to Mercedes-Benz and to all our fans everywhere.”

I'm surprised he is leaving motor racing entirely though. I could understand him leaving DTM as its a serious championship that must take up a lot of his time, but he could do some Endurance racing or GT or something?

He's not leaving entirely. He's covering F1, 20 weekends a year for the BBC.

Forgive my failing memory but didn't he fail to finish his final f1 race also? Getting hit on the first lap? Iirc he was wearing a helmet cam which was one of the first times we'd seen it used properly.

He did.

Red Bull had kitted him out with a special livery, so naturally he got taken out at the first corner. Nakajima in the Williams I think it was.

Wings for Life livery, car looked awful but only made it to turn 2 at brazil which may have been a godsend!

He will not be allowed to buy into the sport and broadcast it. Competition laws won't allow it (he was blocked when he wanted to by into a premiership football club a little while back).

Typical made up article from the mirror.
