What I'd really like is for Daddy Stroll to have a grown up chat with his son and give that seat to Max next year, presuming Alonso wants another season chasing his third F1 title.

Even if the '26 regs Newey design turns out to be a lame duck, we would get to see who can get the best out of it for a season or two.

Like i have said before, i reckon Max will go to AM....

Max and Alonso? That's a recipe for distaster if ever I heard one...

99% sure they'll ditch Alonso if they can get Max.

Why wouldn't they ditch Alonso though? EDIT: As above Alonso and Max haha that would be hilarious :D

It'd be funny if Jos/Max throw their toys out of the pram towards the end of the season and it turns out there's nowhere competitive to go to. I honestly can't see McLaren, Mercedes or Ferrari ditching either of their drivers. Mercedes specifically are looking like a properly good pairing. Mr Consistent along with Antonelli who hasn't put a foot wrong so far this season (unless I've forgotten something) and only seems to be getting faster. Toto must be very happy with that choice in particular.

Only if Max wants a massive payday and to never win another championship, and he doesn't strike me as being that type of guy. AM obviously has Newey now, and has spent megabucks recruiting engineering staff, and have their new wind tunnel, but this all has echoes of Toyota in the early 2000's and Audi now. Spending a ton of money for top tier talent who never gel with each other has a proven record of disappointment.

As I've said already in this thread, I'm tend to the same view as you - I think Papa Stroll's big money team is more likely to lead to success than failure - but I think it's a mistake to believe that its chances are non-existent. There's a lot of top talent at that team and Newey's influence from next year may be enough to bring things round, not to mention the new engine. I think they've more chance of success in 2026/7 than Red Bull have; they might even end up being the best available option.

There's a reported €1bn offer over five years on the table for Max. If you're not sure what the best chance is, wouldn't you consider picking the one offering crazy money?
