Here's the situation:

Our wing mirror was kicked off on the driver's side last week, and has been put back on temporarily using tape, There is no damage to the glass of the mirror, just the bracket that holds it on the car.

The mirror is pretty secure using the tape, but obviously not ideal - it's the best I can do until the new one arrives at the garage!

Now the issue is that tomorrow it's MOT is due and the new Mirror hasn't arrived. Does anyone know if this will fail it's MOT due to the mirror not being properly fixed on or will my temporary tape repair job get it through it's test while we wait on the part?

Isn't there some crazy rule that you can have 1 rear view mirror and 1 of either side wing mirror, or am i just dreaming.

From what I have found out so far... which isn't much, and may be wrong... You must have the drivers side mirror (if your car should have one i.e. not 40 years old!) and either a passenger side or a internal mirror.

So if they had decided to kick off the passenger mirror I'd not really be in this situation. I just hoping someone can tell me the temp fix job will be enough to pass the test :(

Not sure if it's any help but my bike passed it's MOT with bits taped on.

I asked when I took it to the garage and they said as long as it's secure it's fine. Don't take that as gospel though!

No, you just need to have 2 mirrors afaik, don't quote it though.
A mate of mine put his through MOT with no actual mirror in his drivers side mirror and it passed.

a friend parents (some years ago) used to have a old proton that only had 1 mirror cant remember what side as that was all you need for MOT and was designed like that. (hadnt lost 1)

As I understand, the requirement is that you need two mirrors, one of which should be the driver's side door/wing mirror (unless it's a fairly old car).
