Mount and Blade is one of the best budget games I've ever played, really pulls you in with brilliant combat, much better than Oblivion's. If we could combine the best of both worlds with multiplayer and even bigger maps and more people =p then we're talking.

Not sure. Beta is only on 0.580 atm...but the original you could purchase and play normally way before 1.0 (think I bought it around the 0.3xx or 0.4xx era).
