This is a cool little game I found out about recently. From what I understand its mainly a hobby game, so the graphics, storyline, quests etc are a bit poor. But, in my opinion the combat is amazing for a small game, its so simple and well done I don't understand why games like Oblivion don't have something like this implemented.

Also, for anyone interested in Darkfall Online i'd seriously suggest trying this game, the combat in Mount&Blade is apparently much like whats in Darkfall. Makes me eager for the release of Darkfall even more. :p

Theres a ton of mods for this lil game that make it even better.

Yup. We were dicussing this in the "spec me a ninja/something game" thread a couple of days ago. It's a rocking game I purchased it back in 0.5something and it's had quite a few upgrades since. There's a new version slated to come out in a couple of weeks that should massively revamp the AI and give more options for the castle sieges :) Should be damn cool.

The mods are great, too. Loads of things that add either storylines/completely different settings/difficulty/new quests and god knows what else.

The mounted combat is the absolute best in any game available at the moment. It takes a while to get used to controlling the horses but once yuo've got the hang of it (and a decent horse + more skill at riding), you can have amazing amounts of fun running around with a lance and shield.

One thing people should check out is the battle size modifier. Normal battles can get fairly epic in later stages but with this mod (and assuming your pc can handle it), you can increase it to crazy levels. There's nothing like running through 50 brigands on your heavy courser and impaling left right and centre with your lance ;)

(okay, there's non-mounted combat too, but I defy anyone to not love using the lance) :p

Been playing it and various mods for years. Highly recommended.
Playability and combat are brilliant. When you have that, you don't care about gfx.

Yup amazing serries. Bought the first one when they released the first beta or maybe even alpha back in 2004 or 2005. It has the best mounted combat of any game I played and I can't believe no other game has copied it.

Hurry up with banner lords! :)
