Mount NAS permanently

Hi there,

It is possible to permanently mount a nas share so that it appears in the devices or places section in finder.

...like you can mount a networked folder to the drive letter "x" in Windows, for instance.

not quite sure what you mean but If you stick the NAS folder on to the Dock it will stay there even if you eject the NAS drive.
 
My NAS seems to disconnect everytime I either go into Standby or Shutdown....I want it to stay connected constantly.

Also, what is the best way/protocol to connect to my NAS when on Mac?
 
Found a way to sort of get the desired effect.

I created an Alias to the folder and then dragged it onto the Places bit in Finder...

...still when it initially connects (for the first time after the computer comes out of standby) there is a delay.
 
What protocol are you using? My AFP shares always auto-reconnect after waking from sleep (as far as I can tell!)
 
Bonjour isn't a file sharing protocol :confused:

It's basically Zeroconf with a funky name, a service discovery tool to make connecting devices up easier.
