Following on from my other thread we're in the process of designing alcove cabinets for our front room. Hoping the end result will be something like this with the TV eventually wall mounted on the right;

So I'll say goodbye to my trusty Besta cabinet and floorstanding Gale speakers which have served me well :( It's currently up for debate if I'll be keeping the Panasonic GT60.. seems a shame for it to go.

The size of our room is not all that different from how that pic^ looks, so unfortunately I am going to have to look at soundbars. Possibly with a small sub, and maybe if I can persuade my girlfriend a set of rear speakers as well. All to go with the Marantz SR5012. I'd say budget is flexible right now, less if the TV is going to be replaced. Maybe £700 at a guess.

But my question is really, am I going to be able to mount a soundbar to the bottom of the TV so it moves and stays in line with the TV? It'd suck to have it sat on the unit, as the TV is always going to be at an angle given where we sit central in the room. Is it possible with the GT60? How do I figure it out?

Theres a few soundbars you can get for your price range that would be great but non of the ones I know can be fitted to the TV. You could potentially place the sound bar on a lazy Susan though to get a bit of swivel. Alternatively some third party TV stands have a mount/ platform to rest a soundbar on.

Edit: The Sony HT-A9 is great for when sitting off centre due to the room calibration software. It’s expensive though and isn’t really a soundbar.

Sorry, I keep suggesting over budget but as you hinted you might not be keeping your current TV could I suggest a new one? The Panasonic LZ2000 Oled TV has a built in sound system. If you do get a new TV it may be good value. Also the Philips oled+937 tv has a built in soundbar but it’s horribly expensive! TV’s usually drop in price by a lot though when new models come out, so they are worth keeping an eye on.

There are a number of suitable products for you. These hang off the bracket that the TV is fixed to, and so move with the TV bracket.
Have a look here

If the link doesn't work then go to The Plasma Centre Web site and look for sound bar mounts.

Once you know the sort of product exists then you can search out something suitable from the Web to fit your needs.

The TV will be too high due to that fireplace then you have soundbar below it (unless you put soundbar above screen)

Can't you put the TV on left wall, right or rear wall?

You didn't bother to read the opening post properly, did you.

Everyone else got it, except you.

In fairness, it's probably not normally necessary in order to be able to recommend people equipment that they don't want and can't afford anyway.
Quite.

Any Forum Member: I'm looking for a sound bar. My budget is £200. It's for general TV and a bit of background music.

Hornetstinger: No. You want 7ft tall speakers with 12" bass drivers all round, plus bury some in the ceiling. And then power. Lots of power. At least 9 Boulder 3050 power amps. Add some subwoofers the size of small caravans. In fact just knock your house down and rebuild it. POWERRRRRRR!!!!!

Alrighty then. :D :D :D :D :D

Bumping this thread to check some basics. How flush can you mount soundbars underneath the TV? I’m leaning towards the Panasonic LZ1500 which is 605mm tall. Most soundbars seem to be 50-60mm tall so that’s 660mm total if I can mount them nicely on an arm relatively flush. Is that doable?

Reason is - on the carpenters current drawings we have an alcove gap of 800mm high (from top of cabinet to bottom of lowest shelf) to fit them in.

The cabinet is already only 600mm off the floor which is quite low for a cabinet, and we don’t want to raise the bottom shelf too much higher because it’ll start to look very odd on the left alcove - that won’t have the tv in.

try this mount https://www.vonhaus.com/vh_en/sound...62fzi2ci4BVJ1N__j7R8TtMijV7ft_XoaAiAHEALw_wcB But you can't expect better sound than floor standing speakers.

Thanks. Looks to be fairly flexible on how close you can put the soundbar to the TV. I just can't tell if these brackets have particular holes that are, say, 5cm apart, which might mean the soundbar sits 10cm away from the TV for example. Oh well, we've signed off on the height of the first shelf so fingers crossed I can make it work :o
only 9 speakers?
lol perfect. Let me just run that past my other half :D

May be you can check some online videos or buy one and return it if it doesn't suite your work.

Yeah I've finally had some time to check out videos online. I think they're flexible enough. But if they're not, that won't help me after my carpenter has fitted the alcove cabinet and shelves above to the wall :p
