Mountain bikers - Giant XTC advice please.

hello,

a mate of mine is buying a new bike, and has decided on a giant XTC SE, but the 2007 model is out, i cant see any differences even the colour looks the same to me. my question is, have i missed something because it seems the same as the 2006 model which i can get for less than 425 where as the 2007 is £500 cheapest

edit: also seen some 2006 models with Marzocchi Race 100mm and others with rockshox J2's which are best ?

2007 has different forks with a lockout and a better rearmech. the forks on both this and the 07 are a bit pap, the rock shox being slighly better, but the marzocchi's stronger the same as any bike in the less than £600 price range, you aint getting a good fork. I had an XTC (before I went a little hard core for it and custom built my £1300 singlespeed hardtail) and it was great, the best package by far for that kind of money. get the 06 if you can still find one, there is little difference, the only thing you would really need to upgrade is the forks when you get better and need something a little lighter and better damped.
